Biography

Ilias Alami is a young Journalist/ filmmaker. who focus on untold stories far away from war in Afghanistan. As an infant Ilias's family immigrated to Pakistan, where he spent the first 13 years of his life. In Pakistan he learned how to speak Urdu and English fluently.
After returning to Afghanistan in 2006 he started high school. In 11th grade of Habibia High School he applied for YES (Youth Exchange and Study), a program funded by U.S. Dept of State. After a series of examinations he was accepted and became an exchange student in Seattle, Washington. In 2009 when he was a senior in high school. 
In mid 2010 when he returned back from US, he started one year journalism fellowship with Afghan Voices. Through this program he learned to become a professional journalist/ filmmaker and he realized the real need of professional journalists in Afghan media. In Afghan Voices he produced short features, news stories and a short documentary about the impact of cricket on Afghan society. The stories were broadcast in leading Afghan TVs such as Tolo TV and 1TV. Beside Afghan Voices, he has done freelancing with foreign filmmakers. He is also involved in social and humanitarian projects.
Currently Ilias is studying in American University of Afghanistan as an undergraduate pursuing his degree in Political Sciences and Public Administration. He is also working as the Editor In Chief for Afghanistan's New Generation Organization’s production house.
